You have received several invitations for a variety for different visa credit cards in the mail, and have started to think about getting one. The big question is; Are you ready for a credit card?
Before you start filling out all the acceptance forms for ten different visa credit cards you need to first look at the big picture. Getting a credit card especially several credit cards at once can give you the feeling like you have a lot of money to spend. Credit cards, just like any loan are money that is lent to you, that the credit card company expects to be paid back. Before you start signing up for those visa credit cards, think about whether or not you will be able to pay off the balances on your card each month. A good rule of thumb with credit cards is to never spend more than you could actually afford to pay in cash. Credit cards are a great convenience, but you can get yourself in trouble if you end up charging up too much on them and aren't able to pay your bills on time.
Missing payments, and having high balances on your credit cards can damage your credit history. A bad credit history can make lenders less likely to lend you money when you need it for a large purchase like a car or home, and can make other credit card companies turn you down for future cards.
